My name is Carol Moore and I am a native Oregonian. Even though I have lived a short time in other states, due to college and work, I have always come back to my home, Oregon. To me, there is no other state more beautiful than Oregon. Oregon has forests, mountains, lakes, rivers, deserts and the ocean all rolled up into one big awe-inspiring package.

In 1982, I attended Pacific Northwest College of Art for one year, in Portland, Oregon, where I was majoring in commercial art and photography.  This is where, I discovered and developed a passion for colored pencils. Unfortunately due to finances I was unable to return back to art school the following year. I learned everything I could about colored pencils by experimenting and exploring on my own and by reading books.

In 1986, I received an A.A. in Liberal Arts at College of Ganado, in Ganado, Arizona. But as time sailed by, I sort of drifted away from my life's passion off and on due to work, family and life in general. I ended up working for the U.S. Forest Service for seven years as an archaeological and forestry technician.

Now I am a stay-at-home-mom, and I have begun to explore the world of art again and my potential as an artist. I work primarily with colored pencils and sometimes with other mediums. My artwork comes from my heart and soul. I am connected to each piece that I draw. I draw to either express a mood that I am feeling, to convey a particular message, or to just capture a moment in time (past, present or future) of something of a particular interest to me.
If my artwork has made an impact or has made an impression on others then my heart soars for I have accomplished my initial task of what my soul purpose of my artwork was intended.

Presently, I am exploring and experimenting with different types of techniques I have learned via the internet. I use Prismacolors and Faber Castell pencils and I work primarily on Strathmore Professional Grade 400/500 series, Canson Mi Tientes, and Stonehenge papers. I also use solvents and colorless blenders. I just recently became a member of CPSA and just got accepted at Modern Day Masters.

My future goals, are to continue learning, exploring, experimenting and improving my techniques and abilities as an artist. For I hope to someday make a living as a full-time professional colored pencil artist.
